Common and J. Cole Will Take Over Capitol Mall Next Week!

Common and J. Cole are working together to take over Capitol Mall in Sacramento, where they will host the “Imagine Justice” concert and advocate for justice reform. The concert will take place on Monday, August 21 starting at 4:00PM EST.

The concert, which is free and open to people of all ages, is aimed at sparking dialogue around many issues impacting today’s society, while spreading a message of “hope, justice, change and love.” "Visiting these prisons and speaking with the men and women inside during the Hope & Redemption Tour had a profound impact on me,” Common said. “I believe it is my duty to lend my voice to the voiceless and stand with the men and women in prison who have been silenced for so long. We need a justice system that is a tool for rehabilitation rather than a weapon for punishment.”

The following day, Common, who is a Grammy and Oscar-Award winning artist, will meet with California Governor Jerry Brown, as well as caucuses and other legislators, to discuss a number of upcoming bills. The rapper will then head to Folsom State Prison for a performance with special guests Goapele and Mike Epps.
