I just watched Mortal Kombat which came out on HBO Max. I have actually watched it 3 times now already and if you're wondering why, it's because I love Mortal Kombat. This movie might not have been technically the best movie ever but it definitely was dope for me. I have been playing Mortal Kombat since I was a kid, it was one of the first games I ever had and absolutely loved every minute of it. Scorpion is 100% my favorite character. Just need to put that out there.
So the movie starts with the origin story of Scorpion where he meets Sub Zero for the first time and Sub Zero kills his entire family. Bit of an a hole. From there we move onto Cole Young, the main character of the movie. He is a cage fighter who has the Mortal Kombat logo imprinted on his skin. This is not a birth mark, it is an invitation to Mortal Kombat. So eventually Cole gets to know Jax, Sonya Blade, Kano and some others who either have the dragon mark or are interested in the dragon mark. They decide to find Raiden's Temple and train for the Mortal Komat tournament. Shang Tsung, (bad guy) has other ideas though. He sends Sub Zero and other champions into Earth Realm to wipe out the Earth Realm team before the tournament can take place.
Cole Young is actually a descendant of Hanzo aka Scorpion and they tag team against Sub Zero at the end of the movie. All Earth Realm champions are successful in their battles and all is well. We also get a tease for the next movie which will include Johnny Cage.
