During an episode of Netflix's series 'This Is Pop,' T-Pain describes an airplane conversation with usher which sparked his 4 year depression. He stated that during this flight R&B singer Usher told T-Pain he had f*cked up music for real singers.
'And then he was like, ‘Yeah man you really f‑‑‑ed up music for real singers,'” T-Pain recalls. “I was like, ‘What did I do? I came out and I used Autotune.’ He was like, ‘Yeah, you f‑‑‑ed it up.’ I’m like, ‘But I used it, I didn’t tell everybody else to start using it. That is the very moment, and I don’t even think I realized this for a long time, but that’s the very moment that started a four-year depression for me.”
Im sure Usher did not mean to have this type of effect on T-Pain or his mental health. Usher has yet to respond to the viral clip.
