First Look At Plans For Sacramento's New Zoo In Elk Grove

The first images of the new Sacramento Zoo are being released. The Sacramento Zoological Society and the City of Elk Grove released a highlights video of the plans that bring guests eye level with giraffes, face to face with the threatened species like the white rhinoceros, allow them to feed a pack of flamingos and immerse them in 70 acres of savannas habitats. The plans also include tents for overnight stays and state-of-the-art exhibits and an animal operating room with a glass window for guests to see animal welfare in action. The Zoo will be moved from its current neighborhood of William Land Park to Elk Grove in one of the first parks to be built in the United States since 1998 when Disney finished the Animal Kingdom Park in Orlando, Florida.

The construction is slated to start in late 2023 as the plans still need a final financing plan and an environmental impact review. The renderings were prepared by SHR Studios and Mangolin Creative.
