Crews are working to clean a diesel fuel spill at a park in North Natomas. The spill happened early Tuesday, a mile north of Tanzanite Park, near Interstates 5 and 80. The Sacramento Office of Emergency Services says a 10,000-gallon diesel tank malfunctioned at the nearby Centene Corporation. The fuel spilled onto a concrete loading dock, then dripped into storm drains and down toward Tanzanite Park's pond. Authorities don't have an exact number, but say "several thousand gallons" of fuel spilled out of the tank. Several oiled birds have also been rescued from the park, which will remain closed during cleanup efforts.
