Photo: Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care, Inc.

As the Tamarak Fire continues to burn thousands of acres in Alpine County, one rare story of survival is making its way into the hearts of many. Residents in Marklee, California called wildlife rescuers after they reported an injured bear cub in their yard. Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care was escorted into the fire zone and left with the cub they named Tamarack. Pictures show heavy bandages on all four paws and legs. No mother or siblings were found and Officials say Tamarack is going to remain in Lake Tahoe until he's fully rehabilitated. The Tamarak Fire was started on the 4th of July from lightning. Currently the fire has burned over 68,000 acres and 54% containment. Rain and low temperatures on Monday night helped crews get a handle on the blaze that will hopefully help them stop forward progress.
