CA Will Require State Workers & Health Care Workers To Be Vaccinated

There will soon be a coronavirus vaccine mandate for state employees and health care workers in California. The Golden State is among the growing list of places to require state and health care workers to require proof of coronavirus vaccination. Governor Gavin Newsom says the vaccine verification and testing program for state employees will be implemented starting August 2nd and will be phased in over the next few weeks. Health care workers in high-risk congregate settings must also show evidence of vaccination. If any of those groups choose not to get vaccinated, they will be subject to weekly testing. Unvaccinated state and health care workers will also be required to wear appropriate PPE. The Golden State leads the nation in vaccinations with more than 44 million doses administered and 75% of those eligible have received at least one dose. In the Governor's announcement Monday, he noted that other agencies across California are encouraged to enact similar programs.
