Tuesday, August 3, 2021 was a very memorable night, not just for New York, but for Hip-Hop culture. The legendary hip-hop groups The Lox and Dipset participated in one of the most anticipated Verzuz hip-hop battles to date (in my opinion Gucci Mane and Young Jeezy was the most anticipated). The battle was everything you expected from two hip-hop groups with so much personality. You had great lyrics, great showmanship, the swag, the jokes, the braggadocious behavior and the most important of it all, the music.
Hip-Hop as a culture won that night and according to the internet, Jadakiss. Kiss surprised everyone with an impromptu freestyle over Biggie's "Who Shot Ya? instrumental. The freestyle was epic!
Each group came with their style that made them the legendary groups that they are. Dipset came with the swag and confidence. The Lox came with their realness and New York street ties. At times it looked as if the two groups and their entourages might come to fisticuffs, but it never happened.
It was a night to remember but of course the internet stole the show. Twitter was set ablaze with tweets about the battle and the consensus was that Jadakiss deserves a statue in New York City. Check out what the internet had to say below.
