California's Governor Gavin Newsom might have a political foe waiting in the shadows to take him down. According to Axios, former Olympian Caitlyn Jenner is eyeing the governorship and has been having meeting with numerous republican operatives about the possibility of running against California's current Governor Gavin Newsom in his recall election.
Governor Newsom is being recalled in California after petitioners got enough signatures to trigger a recall. A sitting governor in California being unseated in a recall election is not impossible. Back in 2003, then Governor Gray Davis was recalled and Arnold Schwarzenegger took him down and gained the governorship.
Even tough Jenner is a high profile name and has connections to a lot of money and resources, latest polls show that it is highly unlikely that Newsom will be recalled, especially by a republican, since California is a very dark blue state.
