A man at the San Diego Zoo was chased down by an African Elephant after sneaking into the enclosure with his toddler to take a selfie. Cell phone video from those at the zoo, shows a man holding a young child in the enclosure and shortly after an African Elephant rushing towards the two. The man escapes, but not before dropping the young child. He goes back to retrieve the kid. The child nor the man was injured.
According to San Diego Police Department, the man, now identified as Jose Navarrete, 25, has been arrested for his stunt that included his 2-year-old daughter. Navarrete was booked in the San Diego County Jail on charges of child cruelty and is being held on $100,000 bail.
This should be common sense, but do not enter any enclosure at any zoo, especially with a child. It is not safe.
