44-year-old Larry M. Demery has been granted a parole date of August 6, 2023. Demery was sentenced to life in prison in 1996 after he pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the killing of 56-year-old James Jordan as he slept in his car along a highway in North Carolina. During his trial, Demery, who was 18 at the time of the murder, identified the shooter as Daniel Green, who was also convicted. Prosecutors had said the motive for the shooting was robbery.
