Sen. Ashby Proposes Sacramento Area Housing and Homelessness Agency

Listen:

Sen. Angelique Ashby on SB 802 to create Sacramento Area Housing and Homelessness Agency

Regional partners joined Senator Angelique Ashby (D-Sacramento) to unveil newly amended Senate Bill 802, aimed at addressing Sacramento’s regional response to homelessness and housing.

SB 802 establishes the Sacramento Area Housing and Homelessness Agency, a centralized authority designed to coordinate, fund, and implement all Sacramento County housing and homelessness programming. It will serve as the region’s premiere agency for housing and homelessness and will replace the Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency. SB 802 is an aggressive push to regionalize a collaborative response to homelessness and housing, and will establish a historic model for receiving and advancing funding to a county-wide housing agency. The new agency, structured as a Joint Powers Authority, will be led by participating city and county elected representatives serving as board members.
