Kanye West's Bringing "Mary" To New York City

2019 Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival - Weekend 2 - Day 3

Kanye West is bringing his new operato New York City.

“Mary” – which will also feature the Sunday Service collective – will happen this Sunday at Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall. As we told you, the production was first performed in Miami during Art Basel. He said that the original working title was “Birth of Jesus.”

According to a review of the Miami show, “Mary” features new arrangements of older Kanye songs, including “Devil in a New Dress,” “Love Lockdown,” “Power,“ “I Thought About Killing You,” and “Can’t Tell Me Nothing,” which was arranged for a brass section, choir, and what sounded like a Mellotron. It also includes traditional Christmas songs like “O Holy Night,” “Gloria in Excelsis Deo,” and “Drummer Boy.”
