I told you that Mathew Knowles had been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Because it runs heavily in his family, his first call was to alert his daughters. Both Beyoncé and Solange went to get tested to see if they carry the same gene he does.
Fortunately, the tests came back negative.
Mathew, who was treated for the disease this summer, thinks the term for male breast cancer should be changed to “chest cancer” to take away the stigma for men. Also, most men don’t believe breast cancer can happen to them, so they don’t get tested.
Knowles plans to proactively remove his second breast in January. He already had three lymph nodes removed. He’s currently cancer-free and feeling fine.
