Jessica Chastain has hope for Hollywood. While thereβs still work to be done with it comes to diversifying casts, the actress says in a new interview with the Independentthat she already sees a chance in the movie industry when it comes to feminism.
For example, when she entered the industry, she recalls being told by male directors, βyouβre talking too much about this woman stuff.β ButΒ thanks to women taking a stand with movements like #MeToo and Timeβs Up, the next generation of actresses areΒ more able to speak out without fearing for their careers.
βThings are different for women coming into this industry,β Chastain notes. βI just did a press tour with Sophie Turner, and the freedom she has to express herself about injustices, it just comes naturally to her without a second thought.β
