'Waste Hunger, Not Food' Gains 300,500 Pounds of Healthy Food #GoodNews

A special program in Bakersfield, California, is having a big impact on the community by picking up uneaten food from restaurants, schools and stores -- and distributing it to those in need.

So far, the “Waste Hunger Not Food” program has rescued over 300,000 pounds of healthy, nutritious food and delivered that food to groups that can use it.

Of course, coordinating all this activity is not easy.

That’s why another large refrigeration unit is being built and a fourth vehicle is being used to get large pallets of rescued food in the right places.

While things might seem chaotic, everyone involved in the program is excited to see that less food is being wasted -- and many people in need are getting a special boost. (KGET)
