Steph Curry and Viola Davis have produced, “Emanuel,” a documentary that outlines how Dylan Roof walked into the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina and murdered nine parishioners during their closing prayer four years ago today. Now that the film is complete, their celebrity friends are doing their part to make sure as many people as possible see it.
Halle Berry, Charlize Theron, Laverne Cox, and LL Cool J are just a few of the A-listers who’ve bought out theaters for nine free screenings around the country of the film today and Wednesday. The tickets they’ve purchased will be handed out to churches, local organizations, and communities.
Halle bought out a theater in her hometown of Cleveland, while Charlize got one in Los Angeles. Laverne’s is in Mobile, Alabama while LL’s is in Queens. Others picking up the tab are Yvette Nicole Brown in Richmond Heights, Ohio, Tyrese in Los Angeles,Nick Cannon in both Washington, DC and San Diego, and Martin Lawrence in Hanover, Maryland.
